Included in the exhibition were his important series of paintings and graphics of the Demolition of the Old Helen Hayes Theater that was first exhibited at Fordham University at Lincoln Center in 1986.  Between 1982 and 1984, Coyle became deeply involved with the rallies and protests of the theatrical community in their efforts to save the Helen Hayes and three other intimate Broadway theaters that once housed dramatic plays. His day to day absorption in these events evolved into this important series of oil paintings, watercolors and graphics

TERENCE COYLE, 1925, was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts and resides in New York City. Known as a genre, as well as a landscape painter, he works in oil, watercolor and graphics. His paintings come alive with the spirit and energies that confirm daily life. He is represented in numerous museums and galleries throughout the country and has been an Instructor of painting and figure drawing at the Art Students League since 1974. His paintings have been exhibited at the  Museum of the City of New York, the New York State Museum in Albany, the National Academy of Design, Fordham University, the Museum of Performing Arts and the Berkshire Museum. He is in many notable collections including The Thyssen-Bornemisa Collection, the Billy Rose Theatre Collection, and the private collection of the late Ms. Helen Hayes, former first lady of the American Theater, among many others. He collaborated with Robert Beverly Hale, former curator of the Metropolitan Museum and fellow instructor at the Art Student’s League on three best selling books on figure drawing: "Anatomy Lessons From the Great Masters," "Master Class in Figure Drawing" and "Albinus on Anatomy."  Watson-Guptill Publications
